It takes one hell of a pair of balls for Geraldine Ferraro to say that Obama is where he is because of pseudo-crypto-affirmative action:
If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a
woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very
lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.

Of course she's right--a white man was in that position--his name was John Edwards, and he didn't stand any more chance than a possum crossing a highway in mating season.
Comments:
True to a point, but Edwards' weird fixation on mills, coupled with that haircut, the blinding smile, and the near-visible trail of trial lawyer slime he left behind him must also be factored into his decline.

I'm with you on every word except "near."

Still, it's a lot easier to imagine him winning or at least doing well with a one-on-one race against either HRC or Obama.

Against Hillary he wins the anti-war and anti-Clinton progressives, and people who think no one will vote for a woman in November.

Against Obama, he has none of Hillary's weaknesses (the Clinton factor, her mushy support of the war) and wins people who think no one will vote for a negro in November.
